I recently created a guide on 5 ways to earn money through your passions & gifts for aspiring soul preneurs and people with fire in their belly who are unsure as to how to best channel their energy in the world. (If you wish to access this guide you can do so here). I put together this guide as I keep coming across people who are being held back from doing work they love due to lack of capital and limited financial resources. That appears to be one of the key major reasons why many who would resist exploring more passionate, personable avenues to vocation & work - yet Im somehow still unconvinced that this is the key reason people hold back deep down. Still, I decided to write this guide and share the cost free tools that worked for me when I was setting up my business that seemed to do the trick for me. In this article id like however to get people to think a bit further when it comes to seriously considering earning money through their passions and doing so consistently. Id like to clear some myths and do some honest talking in relation to this area so you know if you re ready to do what it takes to become a soul-preneur and about the emotional, energetic and financial investment you will need to consider making in order to move forward. And of course as usual i will offer some practical advice. So let's start. 1. The Difference Between Hobby And Vocation There is a big difference between doing something as a hobby and that passion then being our vocation and source of livelihood. This difference is not just to do with our level of commitment in mastering our passions and deepening our skills and expertise when involved in it. It is equally important to consider how willing we are to do what it takes to master all the aspects that will help ground our passion into a system and a methodology that will bring us abundance systematically and enough to sustain us and our family. In other words developing some business skills that will help us take our work to a new level. Let's make it clear that not everyone is up to take on the process of becoming self employed through their passions, even if that means becoming happier and more fulfilled in the process. Some people simply value their regular paychecks and stability too much to risk a self sustained life style and that is ok. Or they just don't want the hassle of striving too much and having big goals. I think that is totally fine and no need to challenge people who don't want to chase bigger dreams. And of course there are still people doing work they love whilst working for others. But there are many benefits, energetic and financial, when working for ourselves and it really IS worth the trouble in the long run. These benefits I plan to explore in another blog but In the meantime, to help you know where in the 'passion to vocation' spectrum you are if you don't know already, id say try using the guide I created and see how you do following it through. If you find yourself resisting my promotional suggestions and action tips, it might be that you re happy enjoying your passions as hobbies for the time being. And that is totally fine, id say however be open and keep flirting with the possibilities of putting yourself out there in this way if you desire to create that lifestyle eventually. 2. Be Prepared To Come Out of Your Comfort Zone To turn your passion into a vocation, you might as well forget what it feels like to feel safe and comfortable in life for a while and that might just be a necessary experience for a short while and if anything is to come out of the work you put in. When we choose to ground our dreams into a grounded reality, we have to be prepared to step into unfamiliar territories and we will need to develop a curiosity to learn new ropes such as marketing, business planning or building our social networks, not to mention we will need to keep putting ourselves out there to get clients. Only when we immerse ourselves in the process consistently and with zest, are we to see any developments and get the confidence needed to keep going. Also that's how opportunities will come to us, by stepping out there and making it happen. So as we're going to feel out of our comfort zone, it's important therefore we have enough stability and comfort in other aspects of our life if possible to get our motivation, strength and energy regeneration when starting our journey into soul-preneurship. 3. Clarify Your Investment of Time, Money & Energy Ideally we will have enjoyed a passion as a hobby for a while and we will have learned more about who we are and how we can support others through this passion whilst developing our skills. When we start getting more serious with it all and consider how to package our offerings into services and products, it's necessary to start thinking more on the ways we can serve those we want to serve by offering them tons of value in a way that really addresses their needs. We will need to sit down and have an honest discussion with ourselves on what resources we have available and are prepared to invest on our business to support that process of building ourselves. And by investment I mean money, time, training etc. It's super important to have that conversation because not knowing what we need to bring more of and what we are prepared to invest in our endeavors, is often what holds us up from moving forward completely. It's better to know your budget, even if that is actually zero! than not to know it and block your evolution. So we need to be fully honest to ourselves on all this so we know how to move on. If we have zero budget it's important we keep working on scaling our business and passions whilst doing whatever other work we do that support us until we are ready to invest in our business a bit more, even if that is to rent a space to run our classes or our workshops on, or simply capital to use to promote our work a bit more. That being said there are many ways we can scale our business for free and gain exposure to our ideal clients 5 of which I mention on the guide I created. It will take us longer to get to where we want, making money through our business but that is absolutely OK if we keep doing the needed work. Also bear in mind that there are various ways to run a business and make it in the world, there is not such thing as the only way to do it. Anyone who claims to teach the 'best way' is coming from a poverty mentality and an old paradigm of thinking that simply is not true at this day and and age. 4. Develop A Strategy At Least In One Area Strategising and planning ahead whilst building our business is essential if we wish to be part of a journey that takes us places and that scales our passion into a livelihood. It will also help us feel grounded during the process and it is also the next step if we have a clear intent to earn money through our passions. However strategy doesn't have to be complicated, dry or inflexible. In fact it can be fun, joyful and exciting. It will get us thinking and planning about what's important for our business right now and will eventually get us to relax from carrying a lot of stress and unformed desires about where we wish to be. We will feel in control (in a good way). All we need to then do is review that plan every now and then to make changes where where necessary. To make it easy for ourselves, we can choose one area of our work that we wish to strategise on. Perhaps that area for you is finding & reaching out to your ideal audience. So you research and find where you can find them and you start hanging out there. Social media is great for that sort of thing. Then you can consider how you can bring them to take notice of you and what you offer. Perhaps we need to strategise around researching our market, packaging our services and products, promoting our work, converting our audience into clients, or even plan around our own personal and professional development. Whatever it is, we need to break down all the areas we wish to concentrate on and then choose one area as our next place of focus. Then we can look at tackling other areas strategically as soon as we're done with another. And we're all set. Strategies will help us ground the specifics of our intention around our work by concentrating on the details that will make them a reality. If we don't do so, our intentions stay dreamlike states that will take us nowhere. Be open for the strategies you created not to work and be prepared to re strategise if necessary. 5. Become Actively Involved In Marketing And Promoting Yourself In order to make our dreams a grounded reality, we need to learn to love marketing and promoting ourselves, and it is somewhat silly to think that simply doing what will love will attract the right people and that will be enough. Doing so will be the carrot on the stick to draw on our skills, create our foundations, build out packages and clarify our services and get ready to rock this thing and serve the people we wish to serve. If you plan to hire others to do your promotion for you, then you need to be exactly clear what you are delegating others to do and don't just hand over your business to someone else. Nobody is going to love your business more than you do which means no one will care enough about it enough to see it succeeding as you do. So it's vital WE learn the ropes that will help us grow in what we do and we then hire people to do the odd jobs that we will contribute to that. Some people find promotion and marketing scary and it ends up being an Immensely loaded area that we wish to hide away from. It's seen as the Dark Lord. If that is you, it's essential you do some clearing and releasing of limited beliefs around that aspect of work, as it will hold you back from creating any sort of abundance in your life. Marketing and promotion is all about creating genuine connections with your ideal audience who would love to benefit from what you are offering. It doesn't have to be sleazy, salesey or unethical. Not at all in fact! Its a skill and a tool that is worth understanding If you re going to make genuine connections with your ideal clients and earn a good living supporting them on their journey through your gifts. It's all about Building Genuine Connections Before I end this article I want to say that if you are yet to find out the way you can support your ideal clients through your unique gifts, this is the time to do so and i suggest you spend time working that out first. Finally, I often find that a certain group of people, especially those interested in spirituality and self development, find the idea of creating and building a business as corrupting and de-valuing. In reality this is just a projection of our limited beliefs and understandings. Even though there are people conducting themselves totally unethically, this is not how it is for many in the world of soul preneurship! Again clearing and releasing is needed if that is you. In my view, business creation and building is totally a spiritual game and one worth playing. Not only we get to support ourselves and our families through our passions and desires, but as we turn the invisible into visible, it will teach us the secrets of true alchemy and how to apply them in real life. This alone is the best self development one can offer themselves. Can you honestly tell me you're not called to do so? Much love Samaya x
