You’d be surprised to see how many people hold limited beliefs when it comes to content creation and particularly around the skill of writing. Here’s some of the range of limitations I hear people going through. • “Im not a writer” • “I don’t have ‘the gift” • “I experience too many writing blocks” • “ My grammar’s not that great so why bother” • “It’s so hard to create content consistently • “Writing is not my zone of genius” • “Im not sure I know what my message is. and so on… However, the reason why so much of this is going on, is because people are approaching writing in such a serious way that they end up throwing the baby out of the bath water. That baby being of course.. PASSION. And passion in your writing is not only key, but Is in fact what should be leading the way. To the very end. As Jim Rohn has said: “Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.” And I have to say, I agree with Tim. When I connect with things I read, what I feel moved, transformed and effected by is FIRSTLY the energy, passion and the connection in which whatever im reading was written with. The value of the information comes second. Every.time. Here’s what I find: Information educates, but passion transforms. And I write that knowing that my intellectual aspect is as strong as my intuitive (if not more) and I really love well-crafted writing content. I have put that to the test by reading informational posts that are factual based writings written with no heart or soul that have left me underwhelmed and disinterested. This couldn’t be more truthful around the process of blogging and content creation as well. You can build a highly relevant blog, with all the right information on how your coaching can help your clients, or how connecting with their true self will help them live a happier life, but if it lacks passion and emotions, it will be dull and lifeless and people will not be convinced. I personally feel we need both and we should aim to deliver a great combo of passion AND value. But I want to hone into the issue that information alone is NOT what people are thirsty for. People are thirsty for how they can access the passion you’re experiencing about the thing you’re sharing in your blog in the first place. When I read a blog, here’s what I DON’T care about so much: Grammatical mistakes (even though I happen to be big on grammar), syntax errors, misspellings, miss-pronunciations. In fact when the passion in any content I read is deep and evident, I don’t even notice these “mistakes”. Id go as far to say these “errors” give the writing a kind of personality that actually adds to it as opposed to take from it. However if the passion is not there, then these mistakes will drive me wild! And to me that is evident all around. Does the leaning tower of Pisa annoy you because it is leaning and lopsided? Do you discard its validity and artistry because of the fact it’s not standing upright like all valid architectural pieces should do? Does the leaning of the tower make you feel it’s less of an interesting work of art? Would you be more intrigued to visit it if it was upright or leaning? I thought so. Likewise. I prefer visiting the leaning version. Let’s face it, the leaning of the tower of Pisa is what has given the artistry of the tower some added personality. You see everywhere photos of people making beautiful, fun art with it. It has had people taking photos of themselves next to it, with their hands against it, playfully suggesting they are pushing it back to normal. People don’t look at the tower thinking, hang on that is just not good enough. The contrary is true in fact. It has made the piece of art accessible to people all over the world, which on a deeper level it has somehow given us a sense of acceptance about who we are. Imperfect, yet beautiful and impactful pieces of art that others enjoy to be in the presence of. Pieces of art we can have fun with. We even like it that much more because it’s leaning, as the leaning of the tower ads to the charm and the attraction of the beautiful Cathedral bell tower. (I had to google it to find out what the tower actually is!) Equally would you look at The Aphrodite of Milo with her two missing arms, one of the most iconic and powerful pieces of art in the history of time, and think it misses the mark because time took its toil on it? I doubt it. The perfection and passion in the artistry of the sculpture is so deep that the missing arms only ADD to the mystery and value of this extraordinary piece of work. It makes us think of deep beautiful storylines connected to this art piece. A sculpture of a Goddess with no arms can be hugely evocative and big ripples from its metaphor in the collective consciousness of our people. And somehow, the sculpture makes me want to gaze in it for hours. And to marvel that this passion and beauty is available to us. Writing can have a similar effect. As a soul blogging and content writing mastery mentor, this is how I teach my clients to approach their content creation and blog writing. I help them tap into their Aphrodite of Milo and shine bright in their endearing imperfection. To be an expert in clumsily loving things fiercely, their heart & soul included. And by doing so I see them stop worrying if they are enough of a leader in their field, as they instead begin to align with being experts and authorities of their own soul, cause their soul knows their message and worth better than they do. Always remember that NOONE is interested in your perfection, in the way they are interested in knowing your heart and soul. And let’s face it, as business owners the message and content we create is what essentially can determine if we’re going to make money or not. Content is indeed Queen, so getting to write powerfully from a place of personal passion is really what will set us you in your work apart from every other coach, healer and guide out there. However amazing you think they might be. I want you to take this information to re-calibrate and re-balance your writing, let it speak from passion FIRST and let the passion lead with the information second. Let your content be like the leaning tower of Pisa or the Aphrodite of Milo, beautiful, evocative, passionate yet imperfect. Let the artistry of passion LEAD the artistry of your technique and you will witness something powerful happening. You will never worry about how good of a blog writer you are in the same way again.
